  1. EZGO Accessories on a Budget

Check out this cool clip of Josh Sanburn driving a Garia golf cart around the streets of New York City.

Luckily the streets aren’t packed as they generally are during the Dick Clark “Rocking New Year’s Eve Party” so the show’s host only has to compete with honking taxi drivers instead of inebriated college kids. The golf cart that he is showing off is truly a nice vehicle but with its hefty price tag it makes it an impractical choice for the rest of us. Don’t despair, you can get your golf cart looking as good as this one with just a few of the right golf cart parts and accessories.

Let’s assume that you already own an older standard EZGO PDS golf cart from 1998 with a decent set of batteries and a top, but with no added features. So your cart is pretty bland and pretty slow. Now the cart in the video would retail for $21,000. But I want to show you how, with a few simple modifications, you could add EZGO accessories to your cart to give this new one a run for its money at a fraction of the cost.

The plan: Turn a bland EZGO into a sweet ride!
    The Budget: $5250.00

First, let’s start with what we would like to see in this new creation. Well, the host in the video was sporting a two-seater, but what if you are a little more popular than that? Let’s plan on adding a rear seat – but not a standard rear seat. Instead, we will add one that flips down to give us the added advantage of a mock utility bed – one of the most versatile EZGO accessories around. Now if we plan to drive around town there are some safety issues we need to be aware of. We will need to add seat belts for the front and rear, as well as an AS4 windshield and windshield wiper. A few other very important additions to allow us to venture into the streets would be a rear view mirror, speedometer, and a light package which includes turn signals and a much needed horn. With all of these add-ons we are at around $1,400, but we’re nowhere near done yet.

Since we are adding a lot of bolt-on EZGO accessories to our cart, such as a steel seat to hold two additional passengers, we will need to look at our cart’s motor. A standard golf cart motor just won’t do. So we will need to look at performance upgrades next. We will replace our old motor with a brand new D&D motor with an Alltrax controller to get our desired speed of 20 mph with enough torque to move our additional weight. When you upgrade your controller and motor you will also need to upgrade some other components as well, such as your battery cables. You will need to add some additional EZGO accessories such as a better solenoid, and diodes and resistors but these are very easy to assemble. With the additional performance upgrades we add another $1,250.00 to our running tally, bringing us to $2,650.00.

Now a golf cart is still a small vehicle so if you are going to bring it alongside cars maybe we should beef it up a bit. To start, we will add a 3” lift kit to the cart not only to give it an aggressive look, but also to make room for the 14” custom rims and tires. After that we will add a brush guard, some rocker panels, and fender flares to complete our bad ass look. With these additional EZGO accessories, the new total comes to a little over $4,000.00

To tackle the interior, the first thing we will need to upgrade is the seats. Standard seats are nice, but Suite Seats are SWEET! If we change the front seat we should change the rear as well. But Suite Seats are a luxury, so for the rear we will just go with matching colored pleated vinyl replacement skins. The interior color we should choose for this cart is burled or wood finish, but the choice is up to you if you like carbon fiber or titanium the prices would be the same. So we will make the interior something we can be proud of by adding a burled dash with a CD radio with I-pod jack and we will also put a custom burled steering wheel as well.

With all of our discussed EZGO accessories and upgrades, our cart will cost us just over $5,000.00 to modify and if you are handy with a wrench you can add all of these items on your own over the course of a weekend or two. If you take the challenge, send some pictures or a video our way. We’d love to share it with everyone!

  2. Golf Cart Parts Needed in Temple Terrace, Florida

    Temple Terrace Golf Cart Ordinance

Temple Terrace City Council gives Initial Approval for Revised Golf Cart Ordinance

On April 17th, the City Council looked over the revised golf cart ordinance which would allow for golf carts on the city streets of Temple Terrace, Florida.  Some of the revisions to the ordinance included that all carts would need to be registered with the City, that drivers would need to possess a valid driver’s license, and that the carts would be bound to the rules of the road as well as having all of the proper golf cart parts to ensure passenger and driver safety.  I would suggest you check your seat belts and if you have only the standard lap belts you may want to upgrade to a new set of retractable golf cart seat belts.

Golf Carts are currently only allowed to be driven on Temple Terrace Golf & Country Club, but with this ordinance it will expand the carts to access to the city.  Carts will not be allowed on sidewalks they will be required to share the road.  Golf Cart owners would also have to register their cart if they would like to drive on the roads.  The fee would be $10 per year.

So with this approval you can now drive your cart on all city roads in Temple Terrace, Florida but you are not allowed to cross county and state roads.  This is the perfect opportunity to personalize your golf cart with great golf cart parts that will improve your comfort, convenience and safety.

With this approval, it’s a good time to ensure that before you start driving your cart down the road, you first make sure it is ready for the trip.  Take time to make sure you have all the proper golf cart parts and accessories installed, that your cart has seat belts for the front and rear of your vehicle and also that you have a light system that includes turn signals, brake lights, and a good loud horn.  These golf cart parts are necessary to keep you and your loved ones safe.  A large majority of golf cart related accidents involve children, so make sure that any young children have their seat belts properly buckled and secured before you put your cart in gear.  Although your golf cart is smaller than a standard vehicle you should still respect it like your car and take all the precautionary measure you normally would.

  3. Don’t Settle for Less than the Best Golf Cart Parts

    April 13, 2012 by Joey

A golf cart that’s in good shape will make your game exciting.  You can drive to the best spots. All you have to do is think about the game without any fuss.

Golf car owners should make certain that their golf cars are running in top shape for everyday use. Direct replacement golf cart parts can be trusted, are easily installed, and come complete with product warranties and guarantees.  Presumably, when you purchase golf cart parts that are specifically made for your cart and are first quality, you will run into few if any problems with your golf car.  Always ensure that you purchase your parts from a reputable dealer, especially when purchasing your parts and accessories online.

Keep your golf car’s owner’s manual handy because it will be essential in helping you understand the golf cart parts and accessories that will ultimately fit your golf car.  Knowing your golf cart’s model is most important and having your car’s serial number could also come in handy.

You’ll find many options when you look for golf cart parts and accessories so ensuring you purchase parts that are compatible with your golf car’s make and model will not only save you the aggravation of installing a part that doesn’t fit, but it will also save you time and money.

While shopping, you will also encounter golf cart parts, accessories and supplies that are essentially universal and can be used on most makes and models.  But be diligent in your research and be sure that your make and model golf car does not require something more specific.  It’s also a good idea to keep track of your cart’s maintenance records so that you replace your golf cart parts that are regularly run down by normal wear and tear performed by regular use.  In this case, be sure to always purchase first quality replacement parts rather than used parts for optimal results.
